I did all of the sound design on this project and mixed it.
All of the sfx used were from various sound libraries.
I used lots of automation to manipulate the stereo mix to be more immersive and realistic as shown below.

I layered a lot of different footsteps with an automated hi pass, panning, and volume to create the effect that the antagonist is getting closer to your bedroom’s open door.
There is some reverb automation on the child’s breathing as well to convey that they are now hiding in their closet.
As you can see in the image, the footstep automations swell again at the end when the bad guy comes sprinting back.
