Amazing Grace
I acquired local talent to record a Amazing Grace on the guitar and violin in Studio B.
I set up the mics and foldback, prepared the Pro Tools session, adjusted the levels, recorded the performance, and mixed it. I also gave the performers feedback to get the best takes possible.
Basically, I did everything except play the instruments. Below are some screenshots of the processing.
The violin had a lot of harsh frequencies so I EQ’d pretty extensively. The violin also had too much dynamic range, so
I also compressed the violin with a pretty high ratio and low threshold.
The violin and guitar are double tracked, so the settings you see are identical on the other channel.
The guitar has a hard pan left and right along with a center track.
The image on the left is the violin, and the right is the guitar.
